RESEARCH

Among the most important goals for The Research Center for Aquatic Ecosystems is the implementation of sustainable development of aquaculture in Nicaragua. This has allowed us to develop and allocate good amount of our effort to invest in research for the different fields of aquaculture.

The scientific research conducted and all new technology try outs haven been previously identified according to the main and most important needs of the coastal zone of the Estero Real westershed dedicated to aquaculture and other fisheries activities. Based on these diagnoses, is that priorities and work plans for the research have been established. Among these one can find the monitoring of the water quality of the Estero Real, new lines and technology of shrimp farming and the evaluation process for the diversification of the fisheries in the area.

TECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT

AREAS OF RESEARCH:
NUTRITION: - Formulation and evaluation of feed for aquaculture
- Evaluation of the biologic value of feed for aquaculture
- Digestibility analysis of feed for aquaculture
- Digestibility analysis of primary products

PATHOLOGY: - Pathology analysis in the different aquaculture systems (Diagnose and control)
- Monitoring of shrimp pathogens
- Monitoring of human pathogens for fisheries
WATER QUALITY: Water quality management (physical, chemical and biological) in all producction systems.
Water quality management (physical, chemical and biological) in the Estero Real.
Evaluation of the nutrient balance and budgets in all production systems.
CULTURE TECHNOLOGY  Technological management in all systems of production
Evaluation of technology of marine shrimp culture
Technological and biological analysis for the introduction of new species for culture.
